Scoil Naomh Mhuire is a Catholic primary school which strives to provide a structured, caring, happy and secure environment where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed.
- While Scoil Naomh Mhuire is a school with a Catholic ethos, it also has due recognition for all other religions.
- The School will strive to promote, both individually and collectively, the professional and personal development of teachers through staff development programmes.
- The School will encourage the involvement of parents/guardians in their children’s education through home/school contacts and through their involvement in the Parents Association.
- The School will endeavour to enhance the self-esteem of everyone in the school community, to imbue in the pupils respect for people and property and to encourage in them the idea of being responsible.

“We are delighted with the positive experiences and broad education provided at the school.
The experience of learning is not just about the academic teaching, but also about the many sports, activities (library visits, beech visits, active week, nature trails, and the Christmas school concert to name but a few) and assemblies that they participate in.
As a small rural school, in a beautiful setting, the children all get to know each other very well (from 6th class to junior infants they all interact) and it is a very friendly family like environment.

“Our four children have thrived at Castlegal NS and loved their time there, growing in confidence throughout all their years at the school and for our older three preparing them greatly for their transition to secondary school, and continuing to do so for our youngest child.
